CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – October 17, 2011 – The Main Street Arena  is inviting local kids, families and adults to skate their way to Halloween fun this year by hosting a special Halloween on Ice benefit event, on Friday, October 28.   The holiday happenings kick off with a Children’s Skate from 6:00 until 7:45 p.m.  Little ones are encouraged to come one, come all, and come dressed for the occasion, as the festivities will include a Best Costume contest in addition to special guest D.J. Brad Savage of 106.1 The Corner, on-ice games and more.  The teen crowd takes the ice next, kicking off Danger. Zombies. On Ice. from  8:00 until 9:45, followed by the adults, who cap off the” ice-capades “from 10:00 until 11:45.   The cost to skate at the event is $10 for adults and $6 for children and under, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Light House Studios and to the Central Virginia American Red Cross.

The cost to enjoy the event off-ice is…nothing!   The forecast for the evening is expected to run hot and ghoul thanks to some expected visits by Charlottesville’s favorite resident zombies. They will arrive courtesy of local film director Brian Wimer, whose film Danger. Zombies . Run. and the related themed 5K race have made zombies a sort of holiday tradtion in Charlottesville. This year’s race is Sunday, October 30 and begins at the Main Street Arena.   Once they are done taking turns around the rink, adults at Danger. Zombies. On Ice. can slip into something more comfortable – as in shoes – and head out to the Main Street Arena Lobby for a Hallow-themed party featuring live music and more from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.   For more information on Halloween on Ice events at the Main Street Arena on October 28, contact the MSA at 434-817-2400 or visit www.mainstarena.com.
