Homeschool Academy

Our Philosophy

On behalf of every instructor on our Skating School Staff we welcome you to join Main Street Arena’s Learn to Skate Program. Our philosophy of skating classes at the MSA is to promote safety and skill building for each skater according to ability. The aim is to have fun while learning a life-long and healthful activity. Many skaters need more than one session at a level to master the skills required to move to the next level. Please don’t hesitate if you have a question regarding our skating program. Our job is to teach you how to skate in a safe and fun manner. We look forward to seeing you on the ice!!

*Free skates are not included in this program, but skates are available at a discounted price of $50 for a brand new pair!

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I/my child wear to Skating School Classes?
We highly recommend that all students wear warm clothing and gloves. Skaters will be learning how to fall and get up properly and will need gloves to keep warm. It is not a requirement, but we do recommend helmets as well. Helmets can be checked out or a bike/ski helmet from home will work too.
What if we miss a class?
We do not offer any specific make-up day for classes missed, but since we have another day of skating school we ask that you make up your class on that different day. Be sure to let the Skating Director know that you are making up a class when you arrive.
Will I/my child progress to a different level after 5 weeks of classes?
Every skate will learn at a different level and will therefore progress at a different pace. Rather than conducting formal evaluations that might make each skater uncomfortable or nervous, your instructor will evaluate and move your child when they feel as though they are ready. This may occur during a 5 week session.

Class Fees and Payment

The cost for all levels of the 8 class series is $80 which can be paid by cash, check, or charge at the Main Street Arena or REGISTER ONLINE. Drop-in classes are available for $20/class. *There are no discounts for classes missed and the Main Street Arena does not give refunds except with a written doctor’s note for injury or illness. Participants are allowed to make-up one class that they have missed on another day and time when class is offered. Skaters will need approval from the Skating Director.
